The Volks Engineering story started long before its involvement with Formula Vee began, and long before it commenced trading in 1989. John Alder, the man who is Volks Engineering and responsible for the Rapier, has been involved with air-cooled Volkswagens since he was a boy. What started out as 'tinkering in the shed', turned into a livelihood when he registered a business and opened its doors to the public. John has more than 30 years experience in modified and high-performance Volkswagens—13 of which have included Formula Vee.
Volks Engineering is renowned for exceptional workmanship and a refusal to cut corners. All work is done to a high standard. The chassis for the Rapier is built in-house along with the majority of the car's components. Quality control and driver safety are of utmost importance.
